Mathieu Plamondon earned his third gold medal in as many years in the 1,600-metre run at the 2013 Hershey's Track and Field Games North American Final in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He finished nine seconds ahead of the second place finisher. HERSHEY - Mathieu Plamondon can add three-time North American champion to his list of accomplishments. On Saturday, the Timmins Porcupine Track and Field Club member won the 1,600-metres run, with a nearly record-breaking performance at the 2013 Hershey's Track and Field Games North American Final in Pennsylvania. Plamondon finished nine seconds ahead of the second-place runner. The win marked the third year in a row the Timmins native captured a gold medal at the event. He will now head out west for the Royal Canadian Legion National Track and Field Championship in Langley, B.C. The meet will take place Aug. 9-11. He will be joining fellow Timmins’ athlete Tyler Dacosta.
